Visits

We run our own visit counter instead of an advertising tracker. It records the page, the referring site, rough scroll depth and time on page, outbound link clicks, and which settings you change (palette, stitch, width) and which city you search, so we know which cities and features to add. It uses a random session id kept in your browser's session storage, cleared when you close the tab. No cookies, no cross-site profile.

Buying a row tracker

Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card number. We keep your email address, the tracker you bought and the order date so we can send it, fix a wrong row and answer questions. Tracker emails are sent through Zoho Mail.

The ChatGPT app

When you use Yarn Forecast inside ChatGPT, ChatGPT sends our app the city, year, stitch and width you asked about so it can do the math. We log which tool ran, whether it worked, which settings were sent (not what they were), the app's language setting and a scrambled session code. No name, email or account. OpenAI's privacy policy covers the rest of your chat.

Messages

If you write to us, we keep your name, email and message so we can reply.

Links to stores

Some pages link to yarn on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon may set its own cookies on its site; its privacy policy applies there.

Who handles it

The site runs on Cloudflare; our visit counter, order records and app logs sit on our own server at Hetzner in Germany. Stripe handles payments and Zoho Mail sends email. We do not sell or share data with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Visit records and ChatGPT app logs: up to 24 months, then deleted. Messages: up to 24 months after the last reply. Order records: 5 years, because Norwegian bookkeeping law requires it.

Your data

Ask us to show or delete what we hold about you at [email protected] and we will do it within 30 days. Yarn Forecast is operated by GTMFM.NO.
